The Sharjah Police are taking a fresh approach to encourage motorists to renew their vehicle registrations on time. The three-month 'Renew Your Vehicle' campaign, which commenced on 15th June, rewards diligent motorists with an array of gifts and exclusive deals. It includes special offers on car insurance, vehicle inspections, and renewal services, constituting a comprehensive package of benefits.
This campaign transcends language barriers by using Arabic, English, and Urdu to effectively communicate the importance of timely vehicle renewal. It combines educational initiatives and enforcement actions, using easily understandable media programs, visual materials, and attractive incentives in the form of gifts for participants.
Colonel Khaled Mohammed, the Director of the Vehicle Licensing Department in Sharjah, has shared insights on this creative initiative. He mentioned previous similar campaigns and highlighted this year's unique collaboration with diverse community stakeholders to extend additional benefits and gifts to the public. The primary objective of this campaign is to foster responsible vehicle ownership and enhance road safety.
Sharjah, with its 18 strategically placed vehicle inspection centres, inspected 263,804 vehicles in the first half of 2023. These centres, spread throughout the emirate, facilitate easy access to essential renewal services for vehicle owners.
This campaign emphasises the settlement of unpaid traffic fines, a frequent obstacle during the vehicle-renewal process. Here, random field inspections, live social media broadcasts, and billboard reminders prompt vehicle owners to renew their registrations. The Sharjah Government further encourages fine settlements with various discount schemes on penalties.

The campaign targets the issue of vehicles being abandoned due to overdue renewals, especially prevalent during the summer months. This practice causes traffic disruptions and potential accidents. The campaign promotes timely vehicle-renewal to mitigate risks associated with non-renewed vehicles, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
Abdulrahman Al Shamsi, the Director of the Accident Department at Rafid Vehicle Solutions, discussed on-site car inspection services for vehicles under three years old. Visitors to their centres are also entitled to gifts and vouchers. He concluded by highlighting the all-encompassing package, including renewal, inspection, and insurance through partnerships with leading insurance companies.
