UAE Implements Stricter Traffic Regulations: Hefty AED 1,000 Fine Introduced for Violations!

Individuals residing in the UAE must remain mindful of the outcomes associated with parking vehicles in areas where it is explicitly prohibited. Engaging in such actions can lead to considerable inconvenience and legal repercussions. Specifically, those individuals found parking in undesignated spots may be subject to a substantial fine amounting to Dh 1,000.

Indiscriminate parking in random areas can profoundly disrupt the flow of traffic movements. Hence, it is of the utmost importance for all UAE-residing individuals to exercise responsible and considerate parking practices to ensure the smooth functioning of transportation and avoid unnecessary penalties.

In a recent event, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority posted a video stating 3 rules regarding the parking system -

  • Don’t park on the sidewalk
  • Don’t park in front of villas
  • Park in public parking areas

By taking a look at the prominent signage positioned at each entrance, drivers can easily spot the designated parking areas. These signboards clearly indicate the spots where paid parking is applicable.

Moreover, the signboards feature distinct orange and blue colours, making them easily recognisable. They typically display the zone number, code, and, occasionally, the timings for paid parking as well.

Those violating traffic rules can incur a fine of AED 1,000 for:

  • Unauthorised usage of parking spots that are exclusively reserved for People of Determination
  • Individuals using an expired permit or if the permit is not clearly visible
  • If a driver parks their car in front of a fire hydrant
  • Individuals having a sign stating that their cars are for sale or rent in a restricted area
  • Parking in a reserved area or not having a permit to park in a specific spot can also bring a fine

Note: Apart from parking fines, individuals can also receive black points upon violating certain traffic rules.
