To support the #stayhome movement, the Dubai government has announced an online service for the renewal of vehicle registration cards. No need for traffic fine payments or vehicle testing, just visit the online platforms of RTA for the easy renewal process.

Covid-19 Vehicle Registration Renewal

Covid-19!

Even the name has started to sound scary.

And why not! The deadly virus has infected more than 350,000 people and the death toll has risen above 15,000 globally.

China, Italy, Spain, and Germany are amongst the countries that are facing severe wrath of this novel coronavirus that originated from China and is spreading across all the other nations like wildfire.

While we have been panicking about this virus, the government of all the countries has been advising the public to stay at home and practice social distancing.

When we have all been trying our best for maintaining the idea of social distancing, the RTA made avoiding human contact even easier with the app called ‘Dubai Drive’. It was designed as part of the initiative known as “Month of Smart Pay”, which began on March 8, 2020, and ends on April 7, 2020.

There could not have been a better time for this launch. This is because keeping all of this in view, it has been announced by the UAE Ministry of Interior that the motorists can renew the registration cards of their vehicles without visiting any service centre.

Instead of queuing up amongst the crowd at the nearest Happiness Centre for the renewal of your registration in person, you can easily do it online for the next 3 months, with effect from March 22, 2020. With this service, the renewal has become as easy as buying car insurance in UAE.

Now, you must be wondering,

“How do I get my vehicle inspected?”

“How do I make the payment of my traffic fines?”

“How can I do it online, without having to visit any of the Happiness Centres?”

Here is the answer to all of these questions that have been bothering you.

For these three months, you can enjoy the benefits of this measure without having to pay any traffic fines, get their vehicle tested, or risk black traffic points or confiscation.

The services for the renewal of vehicle registration will be available only through the online platforms offered by RTA that include the mobile apps, RTA Dubai and Dubai Drive and the website rta.ae.

All you need to do is download the RTA Dubai or Dubai Drive App from the Google Play Store or App Store and go to the section called RTA services. Alternatively, you can log on to the RTA website and go to the Services section.

The renewal process and very simple and of course, since it’s online you can easily do it from the comfort of your home or office (though we really hope its home because no place is safer than your home during this pandemic). It is as convenient and easy as purchasing car insurance online for protecting yourself and your precious vehicle from unforeseen and unfortunate events.

Such an online-only step of the government indicates that there is no need to step out for vehicle inspection or fine payments for the coming three months.

All of this is a part of the support of the government for the #StayHome movement. This movement was started with the hope to put a limit on the spread of the coronavirus in the Emirates.

This is amongst the series of steps and measures taken by the government for combating Covid-19 infection and for curbing the outbreak. The other measures involve the closure of pools, parks, malls, beaches, and many other public places in the UAE. Many strict rules and regulations have been introduced in order to maintain social distancing in restaurants and shops.

The total number of recorded cases of Covid-19 in the UAE has reached around 200 on March 23, 2020. Following these measures and by staying at our homes we can together give our contribution in fighting the coronavirus and reducing its deadly impact.

Take care and stay healthy.
