Big Boost in Dubai Healthcare System Projected with 3-month Permit for Visiting Medics

Dubai, on 31st, January, 2024, has launched a 3-month permit to facilitate the visiting medical professionals to work in the UAE for 3 months. The objective is to equip the local healthcare sector of the UAE to manage emergencies, crises, and uninvited disasters.

According to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), this initiative is aimed to create flexible working conditions for the visiting healthcare experts. This way, the major healthcare facilities will be able to meet their demand for healthcare professionals while giving the patients access to the best medical services.

The Application Process

The application can be sent for this permit via an electronic system called Sheryan. The applicant can submit the application through the medical director of a licenced medical facility’s account.
The 3-month tenure helps the medical professional to work in the UAE, familiarise themselves with the regulations and practice standards, and initiate the process of professional licence application.

Initiative Meeting More Than Just the Staffing Requirements

Besides meeting the immediate staff requirements, with this “permit to practise” initiative, hospitals can now offer advanced surgeries and more specialised treatments. The initiative is also supposed to reduce the burden on diagnostic teams. It is because more skilled professionals (even for a short period) will ensure effective and efficient diagnosis, eventually improving the patient care.
Looking at the educational angle, teaming up with reputed medical experts even for a short term can improve the clinical training at the medical institutes. This is supposed to offer practical experiences for the upcoming batches of medical professionals.
