Emirates is the world’s largest airline carrier that is based in Dubai (UAE). It was established in 1985 by the higher leadership of Dubai Emirates to develop the UAE’s infrastructure. The airlines, therefore, belong to the Emirates Group. The company has a fleet of about 230 planes and Emirates manages around 3,000 flights weekly across its network comprising 140+ destinations spread out in 70 countries spanning six continents from its headquarters in Dubai. Every year, new destinations are added to their ever-expanding list.

When factoring in the freight-tonne-kilometres flown, it is the second largest airline. Let’s take a look at it’s baggage allowance guidelines in this article.

What is Emirates Airlines Baggage Allowance?

Baggage allowance is also known as baggage policy and it is like a baggage restriction on a flight, per passenger. Every airline, including Emirates Airlines, has its baggage allowance policy concerning weight, size and the number of pieces for hand luggage as well as checked-in luggage. An airline carrier will set limitations based on the ticket class whether economy, business or first, the type of ticket bought, the passenger status and departure and the destination point.

Checked Baggage Vs. Hand Luggage

Checked and hand luggage has its policies set by the respective airlines. At its most basic, checked baggage is declared at the time of physical check-in wherein, the size, weight and number of baggage being handed over are taken into consideration. This luggage is then shifted onto a conveyor belt which carries it forward into the hold of the airline to be carried like cargo during the flight.

Hand luggage is a type of luggage that a passenger carries along with him/her while the flight is ongoing. Generally, everyone is allowed to carry one hand luggage and women travellers are allowed a ladies' handbag in addition. Couples travelling with an infant or very small child are sometimes allowed to carry a trolley.

The total dimensions including the width, length, and height of the luggage should not cross 300 cm.

The above-mentioned details apply to all routes except when passengers travel to and from Africa and the Americas. For these two continents, different rules are applied as per the airlines.

3. Cabin Baggage

The policy for cabin baggage as offered by Emirates is as follows:
