As per leading astronomers the holy month of Ramadan is expected to begin on 11th March 2024. Only when the UAE’s Moon-sighting committee spots the Ramadan crescent will the date be officially confirmed.During the Holy Month, the Muslim community observes a month of fasting to embrace their religious devotion and spirituality. As the countdown begins, people in UAE are all set to reschedule their daily routine according to their prayer and iftar timings.
Here’s how Ramadan timings will affect multiple sectors in the UAE:
The opening time for shopping malls and grocery shops will remain unaffected. Shopping malls across the country will remain open till late night.
Most eateries in the country will follow the timings of fasting hours. It means they will stay closed during the daytime and open once the evening prayer is done. However, certain cafes and restaurants are expected to remain open in the daytime and available for food delivery, dine-in (after prayers), and takeaway.
This Ramadan most schools will remain closed for the first three weeks. Other educational institutions will be closed during the spring or end-of-term break.
Working hours of private sector companies will be affected. Employees will work 2 hours less than their usual time. As per the Article 15 (2) of ‘Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022 on the implementation of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, all Muslims and non-Muslims are liable to reduce their work timings by 2 hours without affecting their salaries.
There will be a change in the paid public parking during the festival. Associated fees, timings, and payment modes will be displayed on each of the parking meters across all the parking areas.
