Saudi Arabia Mandates Umrah Insurance for All International Pilgrims!

Umrah insurance is now mandatory travel insurance for all international passengers arriving in Saudi Arabia from other countries for Umrah, with this insurance’s fee being included in the Umrah visa fees. International pilgrims can avail of insurance coverage of up to SR100,000. 

With this insurance, you can be covered for medical expenses, lost or delayed luggage, as well as other risks associated with travel to and from the holy city.

What is the Process for Applying for Umrah Insurance? 

As per reports, travel agents based in the UAE claim that the price of the Umrah visa includes the cost of health insurance coverage. They have also mentioned that the cost of this visa (per person) could range from AED 1,400 to AED 1,800, with the actual figure varying as per the service fees of the concerned agency. 

What is the Process for checking the Validity of an Existing Umrah Insurance?

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has made it possible for pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia to verify the validity of their Umrah Insurance Certificate. To do so, one must visit the Comprehensive Pilgrims Insurance Programme website - www.riaya-ksa.com - and enter their passport number and details related to nationality. Once the required information is submitted, the insurance details can be viewed by simply selecting the option for ‘search’.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah states that a coverage period of 90 days begins from the date when one enters Saudi Arabia.
